De Francisco de Moraes Palmeirim d’Inglaterra – History The name of the wine Palmeirim d’Inglaterra is from a well known 16th century courtly romance, which was written by Francisco de Moraes, an ancestor of the owners of the estates where this wine is produced ………… The wine is produced in Tras-os-Montes, the Nord East region of Portugal In the Chaves, sub-region Chaves is a hilly region with a dry climate, very hot in Summer and very cold in winter. Crossed by affluents and sub-affluents of Douro’ river with deep valley’s this region produces well famous wines since the roman age. The soil are Schistous origins, with average contents of clay and granitic origins with sandy texture The owners belong to old families of the region. With the Palmeirim wine they want to preserve the memory and the history of their families and region, producing an excellent wine and develloping cultural activities Most of the grapes are Portuguese varieties The grape gathering is made variety by variety. Then goes to a traditional wine celler renewd with modern equipment. |
