Valtravieso Dominio de Nogara is one step above the Verdejosthat we have become accustomed to recently. Much more
serious, able to hold its own on the table as well as being
dynamic in more casual situations, like with snacks.
Its manner is serious and solid at meals, where aging on the lees
for two or three months imbues it with the correct texture and
density to make it seem flawless. The nose is complex, but not
overly exuberant like some of its fellow wines from this region,
that amaze on the nose, albeit without complexity or refinement and then tend to loose intensity. There are hints of ripe
stone fruits, peach and apricot, sensations of exotic fruits such
as pineapple and passion fruit, fresh citric notes and a pleasant
aroma of grapefruit, with a finish of a refreshing touch of fresh
grass.
The mouth is extremely well worked, with the correct body and
a delicate texture, well combined and pleasant, fresh with citrus
sensations that prolong it. A touch of salinity is appreciated with
a slightly bitter finish, which adds complexity and seriousness to
a luxury Verdejo.
Simply put, this wine will satisfy both connoisseurs and
beginners, it will captivate expert tasters and the most demanding wine lovers and, in parallel, bring enjoyment to total
newcomers, which is no easy task.
